I am proud to say that i work at Marina Bay Sands.  Although many a times i feel that i am at the bottom of the food chain…  I guess i am learning to deal with it.   I’ve made many career mistakes in my life and i am willing to start over right at the bottom in this new industry in Singapore!  Well here’s a few photos of my new work place at the casino.  I am a Baccarat Dealer!

Anyone who wants to visit or want information on one of the best and exciting destination in South East Asia, let me know!  I will provide the any info i know :)  Official opening is in June 2010.

While I was spending time in worship this morning with my new guitar Olivia. I was reminded of how a group of us in church called the Fyf was so full of zeal for God once a upon a time. There were evenings when we will be discussing how we could make our church a better place and what we can do as members of the church body to build the church in the whampoa Area.
Truth of the matter is alone the way we got so distracted with our own lives that we forgot the one most important thing of being a Christian.
It is not church building, it is not doing your best for God in our ministry, it is not even feeding the hungry or giving to the poor. We lost focus, we lost our prorities ww lost sight of the giver, the central figure of Christ in our “Christ” tian beliefs. Therefore there is no anchor anymore. We beat ourselves up for our failures in our ministries or even personal life but yet fail to come into the very presence of the only person that can lift us up and out of the miry clay. When we can remember that love, that feeling of closeness when we sing and worship and want to keep cultivating the presence of Jesus in our lives. Everything else will fall into place, personal life, work life, church ministries the true spirit of giving to the less fortunate. Rest in Him and see Him increase in our lives. When was the last time you were genuinely touched in His presence?

Pastor prince mentioned about this year being the year of restful increase. It looks like God is teaching me this lesson in life now. I took a pay cut and have to survive on the meagre pay to do what I like to do. There is nothing I can really do and no one to rely on but His hand of grace in my life. Rest under the shelter of his almighty wings. He is also teaching me alot on patience and faithfulness. Being faithful in all the things that I do. I choose to believe in your goodness Lord.

Well i am now officially in my third week of training.  How time flies when you are having fun.  I have been having bad sore throats and runny nose for the past 2 days.  Manageable but kinda irritating.  God’s grace sustains me,  knowing that God wants me well helps alot.

The decision to work in a casino didn’t come easy.  I have blogged that in my previous blog.  I do enjoy the training so far and i really thank God for patient trainers like Flor and the assistant trainers like Miss Loh and Mei Ying.  I joined the other groups briefly yesterday night and you can just feel the tension between the trainees and the trainers.  No smiles just work, work and work.

Do not get me wrong.  When it comes to training we should all take it seriously but we must enjoy the training as well so that we can learn it well.  Another incident marred the end of an otherwise beautiful shift.  We got to visit the actual IR site today!  Well anyways, one of our group trainee Paul, was caught by the shift managers for using his cell during training.  We were briefed on the very first day that we were not supposed to use our cell phones during training but only during breaks.  The shift manger was upset and started raising his voice to ask for Flor, our trainer.

Zoey didn’t see why the shift manager overreacted.  To her it was a small matter that could be resolved quietly with a tell off on the side.  Of course the victim, Paul also thought that the shift manager have better things to do than to catch trainees on handphones.  I didn’t see eye to eye on that here is why:

1.  It is the shift manager’s job to ensure that protocols were observed and he is right in enforcing but the execution can be done with a little more grace.  Although i must say the message got across loud and clear.

2.  Paul was very defensive when he was reprimanded and didn’t apologize for his actions and instead defended that he took the call at the side.  That must have irked the shift manager further to raise his voice.

3.  This is a casino and protocols must be adhered to.  Imagine if we cannot follow rules during training, what more during actual work?

And that’s that.  Although i must say the reason for writing this post is more to help anyone who is wondering about working in a casino.  Before i joined this industry i tried researching on the net how it was going to be like, not much help there.  Especially this industry being new in Singapore.  So if you happen to chance upon my blog i will be more than willing to share my experiences with you.  Even my struggles as a christian working in a casino if you are interested.

Greatly blessed, highly favoured and deeply loved, AQ out
